Herndon, Va. – April 9, 2019 – Expel, the company1 that names its conference rooms after business clichés like “low-hanging fruit” and also happens to provide transparent managed security, was named as a 2019 Greater Washington Area Best Place to Work, an awards program presented by the Washington Business Journal.

One hundred employers from the Greater Washington Area were named as winners of the awards program. Expel and the other winning organizations will be honored at an event next month for creating exceptional workplaces that their employees value highly.

If we keep our people happy they’ll keep our customers happy, and the rest will work itself out,” said Yanek Korff, chief operating officer at Expel, speaking from the Out of the Box conference room (ironic given its box-like shape).

“It sounds pretty straightforward, but it’s the thousand little decisions that make all the difference. We’re delivering a service our customers love — it’s drastically different than what legacy managed service security providers (MSSPs) offer — and we’re focused on building a culture that’ll make coming to work more enjoyable and rewarding.”

Award applicants were evaluated and ranked across five categories, according to the number of employees each employer has in the Greater Washington area. The ranking found companies in the region whose employees rate them highly on such values as fun, collaborative culture, solid compensation and benefits offerings and other amenities as well as management practices.

1. Editor’s note –The following buzzwords were meticulously removed from this press release in no particular order: market-leading, next-generation, military-grade intelligence, artificial intelligence, leveraging, powerful, platform, scalable, robust, space, changing threat landscape, end-to-end, actionable, AI, real-time, machine learning, state-of-the-art, best-of-breed, elite, continuous, and purpose-built. We did, however, throw in “best practices” for a little fun.
